ADVANCING RECYCLING IN TEXAS
Join the City of Austin’s Circular Economy Program for Circular Meet-Ups, a new, digital networking series, the first Tuesday of every other month.
Circular Meet-Ups provide an opportunity for local business owners, start-ups and sustainability professionals across all industries to connect and learn more about Austin’s circular economy.
This month, you'll hear from circular economy leaders Dominique Kirven, founder and owner of Thrifted Feels — who spoke at the STAR Reuse Council's "The State of Fashion Reuse in 2020" webinar last September — and Steve Cody, CEO of Ruckify, an online person-to-person marketplace that makes it easy to rent the things you need.
Dominique Kirven, Founder, Thrifted Feels: “Thrifted Feels is all about sustainable fashion by focusing on the clothing that takes into account not only the environment, but the working conditions of the people involved with making the clothes! The goal for Thrifted Feels is to increase the value of local products, to prolong the lifecycle of materials, to increase the value of timeless garments, to reduce the amount of waste and to reduce the harm to the environment.”
Steve Cody, CEO, Ruckify: “Founded in Ottawa, Canada, in 2017 Ruckify’s peer-to-peer rent anything marketplace provides an experience that enables Ruckify users to monetize their assets while at the same time leverage the sharing economy to rent items and minimize what they own, avoiding investment in depreciating assets. With its industry-changing technology Ruckify is poised to expand from test markets to lead the way for peer-to-peer sharing in communities around the world.”
