TOUR
Texas Disposal Systems has been the official waste, recycling and green waste/compost service provider for the City of San Marcos since 2003. Their fully integrated facility has uniquely enabled San Marcos to increase the annual diversion of residential waste materials from the landfill from 6% in 2009 to approximately 30% over the last few years.
TDS processes more than 3,000 tons of solid waste daily, including trash, recycling and composting. Located just north of San Marcos, the TDS materials recovery facility (MRF) is more than 100,000 square feet in size and runs two sorting systems that processes 20 to 25 tons of material per hour, including glass, cardboard, paper, aluminum and plastic.
This tour offers an up-close look at the company's processing methodology and shows how the MRF fits into the wider 2,300-acre integrated waste-handling site operated by TDS. The tour also includes TDS' unique Exotic Wildlife Game Ranch, a facility that houses more than 115 species of animals as a living example of co-existence with a state-of-the-art, fully integrated landfill facility.
The Capital Area Regional Environmental Task Force (RETF) is proud to offer this training opportunity. Certified
instructors from various Texas agencies will provide insight and information about the growing problem of illegal
dumping and other environmental crimes. Subject areas include public nuisance, solid waste violations, illegal
dumping, illegal outdoor burning, and water pollution.

The course provides six (6) hours of TCOLE, Code Enforcement, or Sanitarian and four (4) hours of OSSF CEUs for all participants.
